You meet the Qualifying Criteria if you are a First Time Buyer who is in housing need and are unable to buy a home suitable for your housing needs on the open market in the Council’s administrative area. Income cap – annual household income not to exceed £80,000. Mortgage Requirement – buyers must secure a mortgage for 50% of the purchase price.
Additional Local Criteria (set until June)
The First Homes will initially be offered exclusively to those who also have a Local Connection to the Town, defined below. This exclusivity period ends in June, after which you are only required to meet the Qualifying Criteria outlined above.
You are considered to have a local connection to the town of Moreton-in-Marsh if you are someone who:
– has been continuously resident within Moreton-in-Marsh or an adjoining parish, or the Cotswold District for the last five years
– has been permanently resident within Moreton-in-Marsh or an adjoining parish, or the Cotswold District for 5 years or more, within the previous 20 years
– has a contract of permanent employment at a workplace within Moreton-in-Marsh or an adjoining parish, or the Cotswold District and this work is not of a casual or temporary nature
– has current family associations (parents, sons, daughters, brothers, or sisters) who have lived within Moreton-in-Marsh or an adjoining parish, or the Cotswold District for the last five years
– needs care from a person in Moreton-in-Marsh or an adjoining parish, or the Cotswold District
