Target for Building New Houses
The target, set out in the 2019 conservative manifesto is for 300,000 new homes a year in England to be built by the mid 2020s.
In 2023 there were just under 175,000 new homes built in England.
Net additional dwellings is the headline figure for house building and includes houses being converted to flats or commercial buildings switching to domestic use.
